The
Bonifay Police Department
Chief of Police Chris
Wells
Hello, and
welcome to the Bonifay
Police Department
website. My name is Chris
Wells and I was appointed
as Chief of Police in
February 2009.
|
I
am a life-long resident
of Holmes County and
attended school in
Bonifay. After graduation
from Holmes County High,
I attended Troy State
University and earned my
Bachelor of Science in
Criminal Justice and
Sociology in 2000. I
later became employed as
a Deputy Sheriff with the
Holmes County Sheriff's
Office in September 2000.
While at the Sheriff's
Office, I promoted to the
Criminal Investigations
Division and later to
Chief Investigator in
2005. I applied for the
job of Chief when the
position became open in
hopes of making a
difference for the City
of Bonifay and the
Bonifay Police
Department. In the few
months since my
appointment, many changes
and upgrades have been
accomplished. The
Department recently took
delivery of three 2009
Ford Police Interceptors,
which arrived fully
equipped and ready for
patrol. Also, new
uniforms and duty gear
for all full-time and
part-time officers has
been purchased and put in
use. I would like to
thank all of the city
leaders for their
cooperation in approving
these purchases that were
long over-due. A few
other changes including a
new uniform patch and
vehicle graphics are
currently being phased
in. More changes are
coming, including the
implementation of an
updated Standard
Operating Procedure,
which should be completed
by the end of June 2009.
Another big change (on
the homefront atleast)
will take place in
October, when my wife and
I are expecting a baby
boy as an addition to the
family. In closing, I
would like to thank you
for taking time to visit
our site and please feel
free to sign the
guestbook to let us know
you stopped by. This site
was created by and is
maintained by Officer
Jasion Carver, who has
done a great job in its
design and upkeep. I look
forward to more positive
changes in the future and
please feel free to email
any comments, concerns or
crime information to me
at
chiefwells@bonifaypolice.com.
Thank you.
